From a small nineteenth-century company to a thriving multinational business

Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc is a global engineering group with an international reputation for outstanding engineering and shareholder value. In 2000, we published their first company history When the Question is Steam: The Story of Spirax-Sarco. Now, nearly twenty years later we have partnered with them again to refresh their story and publish the fully revised company history Knowledge, Service, Products: The History of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc. In the words of Group Chief Executive Nicholas Anderson:

‘This new history is not an update of the old one, the story remaining the same and the intervening years added. This is a fresh, new exploration of the growth and evolution of the Group as a whole. A quote widely attributed to Leonardo da Vinci states, ‘It has long come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.’ The history of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc is just that; it is a history of action, a history of change, a history of people unwilling to let external circumstances dictate the fortunes of the business. It is a story of success, with some failures scattered along the way. It is a story masterfully told by Nigel Watson, who has distilled the essence of our complex history into an interesting, engaging and informative read.’

We were thrilled to work a second time with Spirax-Sarco, and our newly published hardback with spot-gloss jacket is a testament to the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards in their journey towards another twenty-year milestone.
